Park Valley 8-18-2012

Another work trip to Park Valley.  Eric, Kwan, Grant.  not much to report the house was nice and clean
there were a few dead wasps.  The trailer was clean no droppings in any of the rooms. The screen door closer was pulled out of door jam and will need to be repaired.   We watered, mowed, cleaned out the dead wood from the front bushes.  All the logs that we pulled out last trip we cut up and cleaned more branches out from around the lower pond.  There were some old mouse dropping and chewed up napkins  still on the shelf in the house pantry from May that we cleaned up. Also cleaned up the big mouse nest in the main bathroom that has been there,  there were a few dried up dead mice in the mix.  Brought a few supplies to go into the mix listed on the note pad.  Long day not terribly hot had a little breeze to help out, went through 5 chains on the saws but got all that we planned on doing done plus a little.  Managed to replumb the toilet and start the new cabin as well as start on the new landscaping for the entry....until next time.

Park Valley Jew...

Just thought i would repost a favorite of mine.  I do not know if GrandPa ever know that he
had a nick name of  Park Valley Jew or not.  I don't know that i would call him that, but we do know
that he did like to make a deal or 2....

Grandpa Journal

Solemn  words, and these were they: "Even this shall pass away!"...

I was looking at Grandpa's journal and it reminded me of the poem that Dad use to quote quite often.

24th July Park Valley

Up early to get a good start on our Park Valley work day,  about 10 miles from the camp mom told me that she had forgot the keys...woops.  Well we were there so we started climbing the fences to see if we could figure a way in,  the neighbors wondering who we were came out to check us out.  Had a nice visit.  We found a way in but there was no way to get into the trailer or house so we set up camp on the patio.  We were able to get the pump on and got the water going.  We got the shed open and mowed until we ran out of gas.  Most of the time was spent hauling out logs and cutting them up.  Eric and Bud  got in their workout hauling branches out of the lower pond.  We pulled out all the old logs on the side of the pond and lined them up ready to cut our next trip out.  The tree at the bottom of the camp that had fallen was a beast to get down, got the saw stuck twice,  finally we got it cut and pulled out ready to cut up as well.  It kinda leaves a gap window to look through the trees in the bottom. The pond was clearer and we did see a whole bunch of goldfish this time.  It is getting a little overgrown and we may need to get in the water next time and do some water weeding. We did all we could do dulled all the chains and ran out of mower and physical gas and called it a good day.  Nobody wanted to go to the 24th of July  Park Valley rodeo, but  i did and i was driving so off we went.  It was good that i remembered Gary Rose as he was the first person there that i recognized.  Mother had a good talk with Gary.  I did spot Royce Larsen and when i asked him who he was the look on his face told me that  he wondered who the hell i was even though i looked somewhat familiar,  he did remember me and reminisced about how bad they teased me when i went to school in Park Valley, it was all good and was nice to talk with him as well when i think of cowboys i always think of Royce and his dad Cal.  They said that the last time they remember it being so dry was in 1959.  Bud actually got to see the famed chicken catching contest in person but i could not get him to participate and we did not say around for the pig chasing so we will not know how he would have done.  As we were leaving a storm rolled in as we rolled out and blue sky in front.  Saw some real nice bucks in a field on the way home, Eric is already thinking of deer season as we stopped to look at them.  Next trip we will remember keys and gas, and maybe a birthday cake as our scheduled day is Buds birthday, and yes he did pick up the log and hauled it on his shoulder to the pile.
